PUBLIC NOTICE - Virtual City Council Meeting September 21, 2020

Notice is hereby given that on Monday, September 21, 2020 at 7:00 P.M. by electronic remote access, the Reed City Council will be holding its normal City Council meeting “virtually” and a public hearing for the purpose of hearing comments on the request from Ebels General Store for granting a Commercial Rehabilitation Exemption Certificate and on Ordinance No. 001-2020, an Ordinance to amend Chapter 674 of the City Code Governing Trees, Weeds and Grass by using the GoToMeeting application.

When: Monday, September 21, 2020 7:00 PM-8:00 PM (UTC-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada).

Members of the public will only be able to speak during the public hearing and public comment portions of the meeting/public hearing and such comments will be limited to three minutes per person during each opportunity to speak. A person wishing to speak must state their name and request to be recognized by the Reed City Mayor. The Mayor will recognize all persons wishing to speak during the public hearing and public comment. Members of the public may also submit their written comments to the Reed City Clerk at 227 E. Lincoln Ave., Reed City, MI 49677.

September 21, 2020 through September 25, 2020 from 7:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., the DPW will be flushing the city fire hydrants and doing valve maintenance exercises. This may cause rusty water so please use caution when washing clothes.


NOTICE IS HERE BY GIVEN that the Reed City Council will hold a virtual public hearing per Executive Order 154 on Monday, September 21, 2020 at 7:00 P.M. to consider an application from MUAB LLC dba Ebels General Store, 420 E. Prosper Road, Falmouth, MI 49652, for granting a Commercial Rehabilitation Exemption Certificate, pursuant to Public Act 210 of 2005, as amended.

The Rehabilitation Exemption Certificate Application is for real property at 716 S. Chestnut Street, Reed City, Michigan.

The complete application for the Commercial Rehabilitation Exemption Certificate is available for review at the City Clerk’s Office, 227 E. Lincoln Avenue, Reed City, Michigan 49677, during normal business hours and on the City website home page at

The public may participate in the meeting/public hearing through GoToMeeting access by computer and smart phone. The GoToMeeting link and phone access can be found on the city homepage

Owners of property within the Commercial Rehabilitation District and any residents or taxpayers of Reed City have the right to appear and be heard along with any of the taxing entities.

City Hall Reopens to Public

The City of Reed City now has a Safety Plan to reopen City Hall offices to the public, effective immediately. Residents are still encouraged to use the online bill pay and drop box. Visitors to City Hall will be required to use face masks and observe social distancing.

If possible, residents are encouraged to call ahead when coming to City Hall so staff can prepare and lessen your time needed to complete City business.

The Reed City Area Chamber of Commerce is actively looking for a part-time Executive Director. Job responsibilities consist of 25-30 hours a week split between office hours and community hours. Must be able to work flexible hours and be self-driven. Candidates are required to be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Quickbooks, social media sites, and websites.
